High Income Threshold and Superannuation Contributions increase set for 1 July 2025

The high-income threshold and maximum compensation thresholds are increasing from 1 July 2025.

The high-income threshold is increasing from $175,000 to $183,100.

The maximum compensation for unfair dismissal claims will increase to $91,550 from 1 July 2025.

Employee’s seeking to challenge dismissals through unfair dismissal claims, or contractors lodging unfair deactivation or unfair contract terms applications will be able to earn $183,100 or less to lodge these applications.

The filing fee for unfair dismissal, general protections and anti-bullying and sexual harassment applications will also increase to $89.70.

Employer compulsory superannuation contributions will also increase to 12% from 1 July 2025.

Employers must ensure that from 1 July, employee superannuation contributions are paid at 12%, a 0.5% increase from the current rate of 11.5%. Failure to make the contributions at 12% can make employers liable under the recent amendments to the Fair Work Act, which criminalised underpayments.
